Proverbs 5:1 says, "my son, be attentive to my wisdom; incline your ear to my understanding, that you may keep discretion, and your lips may guard knowledge."
As we know, Proverbs is a book about wisdom and we can't talk about wisdom too much. In order to be productive, wisdom is something none of us can go through life without. We will eventually run out of steam and come to a stop. We will come against a brick wall trying to operate without it. I know that personally, because when I tried to work things out without wisdom -- without an attentive ear to what the Lord God was saying in my spirit, it didn't end well for me. In in my review of Proverbs, I am reminded that I need to keep God in my sights, so I am able to not only gain continuous wisdom, but I may 'keep discretion, and my lips may guard knowledge.'
