Ponder [think about] the path of your feet; then all your ways will be sure (Proverbs 4:26).
When it comes to my students, it is very clear, the students who think before they answer questions and the ones who don't. I used to speak without thinking and I sounded like a blabbering fool. We can't go through life like that. Otherwise we miss out, because we run our mouths so much that 1-people will get to the point where they're not listening to us, because we're not saying anything and 2-we will be wrong most of the time, because we seldom stop talking long enough to seek knowledge and to get wisdom.
We have to think about where we're going and that means listening -- it means getting as much knowledge and wisdom as possible then speaking when that's done. Before we open our mouths we should listen more than anything and that requires being humble enough to know that. I'm learning all this as we "speak." "Do not be wise in your own eyes" (Proverbs 4:7). Blessed are those who find wisdom, those who gain understanding (Proverbs 4:13). Think about it.
