Looks can be deceiving. |
Oftentimes we look at people and we judge.
It's true.
It's true.
We do it, because we're all human and looking at someone and instantly summing them up is a human reaction. There's nothing wrong with it. We can't stop it, because we all have to look at the people we come in contact with and from the way people look (and act), we form an opinion. Good, bad, or indifferent. We make quick judgments. Perhaps not lingering judgments, but judgments nonetheless.
The problem is when we revel in and enjoy a negative summation, criticism, condemnation, attacks, and insults against people. When we do that, it takes judging (John 7:24) to a whole other level. This is not good or healthy, yet some people get a high from it. What does it feel like when the shoe is on the other foot though?
In a nutshell, we may be surprised how someone really is when we understand what they have been through. So, unless we've heard their story,
...we have no idea.
